AT&T Kills Unlimited Through Upgrades

Frugal Fanboy Alert!  Get your cheap new iPhone 4G!

AT&T, in a move that people could see a mile away, is going to upgrade away the Unlimited Data plans through upgrade pricing for the iPhone 4G.   If you go to AT&T.com and check your wireless account, you can find out if you are upgrade eligible and if so, at New Customer rate or discount rate.  Please note, this is canceling your old contract and beginning a new 2-year contract.  Not only that, your new commitment will have the $350 Early Termination Fee instead of the old ETF.

YOU WILL LOSE YOUR UNLIMITED DATA PLAN.

If you want, you can ask, cajole, plead, or pray for your Unlimited Data Plan to be grandfathered in.  It will do no good.

YOU WILL LOSE YOUR UNLIMITED DATA PLAN.

Still, you will be getting an iPhone 4G at the New Customer rate.  Honestly, this gambit is obvious.  If AT&T wants to get rid of Unlimited Data, it is going to have to offer people something in return – cheap new iPhones.

Will you trade your Unlimited Plan and a lower ETF for a new iPhone 4G?
