Google Buzz is killing my Twitter Buzz.

I have spent the last few days playing around with Google Buzz, on and off, in between work and Twitter. I have watched the videos, read the reviews and conferred with others who are using that service as well as Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, Foursquare and any other social media avenue.

Now I am prepared to say that Google Buzz is killing my Twitter buzz and not in a good way.   Like Google Wave, I am content to check it once a day at best,  if I remember. Which is why it is likely to not succeed. As users, we don’t have time to check 15 different outlets to receive information and/or put out the information that we deem to be valuable.

Therefore we pick and choose where we will spend our time and attention. Since Twitter has beaten everyone to that punch, I don’t see a need to jump on the Buzz bandwagon. Why would I when the information is exactly the same as it is on Twitter.

I do think it is important for anyone in the technology industry to have a working knowledge of Buzz and Wave and as many platforms as possible. But we have to pick where our efforts are going to be dedicated and that is a choice based on the return we get from those efforts. So, for today, I will focus on Twitter and pay limited attention to Buzz.

I do, however, reserve the right to shift that focus in the future.

What does Buzz have over twitter anyway?

    Photos, video, unlimited charaters?

If there was an app that did both Buzz and twitter..which would you use?

I am bored by Buzz already. I see no advantage yet over the blogs I go to, Facebook, or Twitter.

After all of this buzz talk, I'm going drinking tonight.

If an app did both Buzz and Twitter, I would use ping to send it to both, plus my posterous, facebook, linked in, squidoo, and a few others. Plus a then a few video sites and photo sites, too.

Oh, wait a minute … I already have that app. RSS is like crack to a geek.

Buzz just adds one other place where just a few people see my stuff, but a few adds up to a lot when you map the feeds just right.

Here is a piece from Seesmic to consider. This is a quote from their blog:

"If you add your gtalk account to ping.fm and then add gtalk as a service to Google Buzz, you will instantly update Google Buzz exactly at the same time as Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and the 50 social networks supported by ping.fm. It is also much faster than adding Twitter as a service to Google Buzz which can be delayed up to an hour for your updates to show on Buzz. You can then update ping.fm from any app supporting it (all seesmic apps very soon), sms, email or…. chat. Very handy.""

Many marketers don’t realize that traffic exchange is the perfect tool to not only increase traffic and even affiliate program signups. But also to generate buzz and brand any program or web business.
