iPad vs. Ummm, Every Other Tablet?
I know that I am not the only one unimpressed by the iPad.
Disappointed is more like my sentiment, because I truly wanted one. That is, when it was the tech of my imagination, not reality. Other sites like Gizmodo agree with me it seems. We all have to wonder how Apple is going to respond to this PR nightmare.
David Pogue, a New York Time tech Columnist tweeted:
“Let the moronic, sight-unseen iPad bashing begin! Gizmodo commenter: “No Flash, no stand no camera…..no purchase.” (jeez…)”
Of course, as everyone knows by now, the rest of the Internet seems to agree.

Personally, I concur with each and every one of the issues Adam mentioned. I was truly under the perception that Apple was about to merge the Ebook Reader and Netbook worlds together and create a new genre of interactive technology. Instead, they gave us an over sized iPhone. Let me reiterate that while Apple will always push the market in new directions and most likely open up the idea of walking around with a Star trek type pad interface, this is NOT innovative. It is nothing like the iPod or iPhone has been on the technology forefront, and just because it uses an Apple O/S, does not make it revolutionary.
Fortunately, it seems that other companies have decided to do what Apple didn’t. The new Nvidia driven Tegra2/ARM GPU/CPU tablets are set to innovate and revolutionize the industry. And I’m sure that Apple will follow suit when their six-twelve month window for upgrading rolls around. Till then, I’ll pass.
Enjoy the CES 2010 video below. And be excited, because these devices are coming sooner or later.
