Linkedin| Add Google Presentation App – Now What?
Last year, about this time, I added the Google presentation app to my Linkedin profile and that’s all I did; add it. I can’t believe Linkedin apps have been around since 2008! It’s not a surprise I didn’t do much with my Google presentation app; most of my presentations are not public because of proprietary information within the presentations. When I think apps I think iphone and mobile, I don’t think Linkedin. When I think mobile apps I think social media and tools not linkedin (list of my favorite iphone apps at the end of this article).
Yesterday, I decided to get busy with my Linkedin Google presentation app. Why not make a visual resume. So I did. Here’s the structure of my visual resume:
After the coversheet I give my Bio. Each of these images links to the original source graphic , thanks Google. It’s a good
beginning and gets the viewer thinking.
The next section of my visual resume is the college section. Experience usually dictates where you add your college section, but I loved college so much I put it first.
The next section is for career; every position has a slide.
I came across a problem during 1996-1998 section of my career; I worked at two start-ups and neither of them have websites anymore. So what to do?? The Wayback Machine saves the day again! It’s nice to see the old sites! The Wayback Machine goes back to 1996.
I know it’s time consuming to configure and manage a bunch of apps, but a visual resume is a nice addition to a linkedin profile and social media precence. Recruiters and hiring managers need breaks from reading. Consider a visual resume a commercial break!
Some of my favorite apps for my iphone are:
Facebook
Brightkite
Shazam
AroundMe
SearchIt
Flixster
Last.fm
Foursquare (yes I stopped publishing to Twitter and Facebook),
NaturalCures
Whole Foods
Yelp
GoodGuide
