Mobile Local Social is proud to announce the creation of the Mobile Media Club.

Mobile Media Club is a community of mobile enthusiasts, designers, developers, user experience professionals, marketers and business people cooperating, educating and learning through virtual and live networking events to share knowledge about the global marketplace. We are starting our first local Mobile Media Club in Kansas City, and mobile enthusiasts from all over the world are encouraged to join.

Our purpose is to:

  • Commit to Innovate.
  • Bridge the gap between small and large companies, those in Kansas City and outside.
  • Share knowledge with each other on the meaning and relevance of the mobile space in order to affect concerns.
  • Coordinate, collaborate and cooperate with others to fulfill common and individual ambitions
  • Educate the public about the importance and relevance of mobility.

Mobile Media Club affects concerns through our core ethics of

  1. Be humble – Recognize there are no experts in this space. We commit to learning before educating.
  2. Be ambitious – Commit to making Mobility Monday a strong, safe and powerful space of possibility for those who are also committed to fulfilling our purpose.
  3. Be open – Learn, share and educate with others
  4. Have Integrity – We fulfill on our promises to others and those in the group and look for ways to offer help to one another to fulfill common and individual ambitions.

This offer is relevant because:

The promise of mobility is upon us. According to a recent study, one in five individuals surveyed had accessed the Internet on their mobile phone at some point within the past day. According to an article in The Economist, one in four households are now Cell-phone only. Email is growing obsolete as a means of communication in real time. Because of the convenient nature of mobility, people are turning to small mobile devices to communicate, cooperate, coordinate and collaborate in real-time.

The Mobile device releases the constraints and limitations we face as human beings. These devices are small enough to fit inside a pocket or purse. They are light enough to not cause discomfort while traveling. These devices respond to real world physics. We touch and we drag screens of information, aka applications, aka “apps” with the touch of a finger. Screens bounce, as if made of rubber, when they are stretched to a finite point. They play our favorite songs when our friends or family call us. The device responds, when we breathe, talk, yell, scream, throw.

We are thrown into a new paradigm. When the automobile was first introduced, people referred to it as a “horseless carraige.” We claim that few individuals and companies are leveraging the power made available my these mobile computer driven tools. We recognize the difficulty of noticing immediately when the world changes. We offer help to people and companies, who like us, seek to better understand the world in which we live.

Mobile Media Club is especially relevant to people who hold the following roles:

  • Business people – Those who are committed to learn, educate, and create opportunities for themselves and others in the domain of business.
  • Marketers – Those who are committed to learn and educate others in the domain of marketing for the sake of understanding how to communicate innovatively in this new medium.
