Notion Ink Adam CEO Comments on iPad Specs

Notion Ink Adam

Slashgear continues it fantastic updates on the Notion Ink Adam.  My hope is that next week, at the Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona,  the final revision of the product(s) [there may be two models] will be shown.

The list of advantages is growing, starting with the Pixel Qi display(which allows the screen to turn into an Ebook power saver instantly), moving on to 1080P HDMI output, an Nvidia Tegra 2 GPU, roughly double the batery life (or more) of the iPad, multitasking, multitouch, Wi-Fi, 3G, a front facing OR rear facing camera on a patented swivel mount,  and ending with Flash 10.1 support via Android O/S 2.1.

Of course the final smack in the face is the price.  Rumored to be in the mid $300 range.

Even if this device was $500-$700, it would still be less expensive than the high end iPad at $829 (64Gb/WiFi & 3G).  Apple has already sugested that if the reponse isn’t as strong as they would like to see, that a price drop is probable.  That would be intelligent, considering the competition is coming,  in Slate and Courier forms, as well as other Android tablets.

Not to mention the 1 Million Dollar App competition (not yet finalized):

Finally, the company has told us that it will be running an Apps Competition, similar to Google’s Android Developer Challenge, to encourage software designed for the Adam tablet.  Details of the Notion Ink competition haven’t been finalized as yet, but we’re told the prize fund will come in at over $1m.  We’ll be talking to them more about it in Barcelona next week. -Slashgear

Let the tablet wars begin!!!  Now where’s my hover car and holodeck?

Sadly, the Adam may get overshadowed by the ZunePhone, rumored to be unveiled there.

Well, may be overshadowed by popular announcement, but totally different genre.
