Siri Personal Assistant – Well It’s More Like a Concierge

It’s amazing what you find on Twitter if you stay up late or maybe it’s just that the stream quiets down a bit and you get a chance to see more detailed content. Either way, last night when I was suffering from a bit of insomnia I found a post on the topic of the Siri Assistant. This is an Iphone app that turns your phone into a type of personal assistant. Now, it isn’t going to get your coffee but it will tell you where to take your sweetheart for a romantic dinner. I’d say it’s more like a concierge than an assistant but at this point I am totally impressed.

The most impressive part of the Siri Assistant is it’s voice recognition software, I’m guessing it’s accuracy rate is in the high 90’s. I’ve been asking it to find restaurants and movies for me and so far the only mistake was filling in the word “meaning” instead of “meeting” and in all honesty, I was playing music in the background so there was some interference.

Siri uses a combination of services like OpenTable, MovieTickets.com, StubHub, Google Maps, Taxi Magic, Yelp and Bing to help you with your needs and answer your questions. You can also associate your current accounts with Siri so that you get credits for services such as Open Table.

The best part is that this is a free app! The only issue I had was that I wasn’t able to locate the app on my Iphone, I had to go through Itunes to download. That could have been user error though. You can find out more information about Siri Assistant and download it at the app store.
