The Social Media Grand Central Station. Seesmic Desktop 2. It’s Badass.
Earlier today, while monitoring some feeds on Tweetdeck, I was thinking about how handy it would be to check on all of my facebook pages, my twitter feeds, my Rss feeds, my favorite forum threads, etc… and boom Seesmic releases their new Desktop 2.
It doesn’t add forum threads, that was my idea… but the new Seesmic Desktop, which runs on Windows Silverlight, is one of the coolest programs that I have ever used. You can have many, many of your favorite streams of real-time information in one place. Also, the new platform will give its users all-in-one access to social media giants, such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, but its brand-new plugin marketplace also includes services such as Zappos, Techmeme, Klout, Formspring, YouTube, Last.fm, Techmeme, Ping.fm and many more — around 40 apps and services, so far. With a whole new marketplace for developers to start creating for.
It can allow you to manage multiple twitter accounts, your linkedin status updates, your foursquare friends check-ins. It is the HUB of social media, now. With an open development marketplace that will be full of amazing applications for your Social Media Grand Central Station HUB…. remote control for your online world.
The program runs pretty fast, but Silverlight can be a resource hog. It was still going relatively fast… but my PC is a 3.35Ghz dual core with 4 GB of RAM… so my computer is a bit faster than most. If you have a slower computer, please let us know how well it’s working for you.
This tool will become one of the most utilized tools for Small-Mid businesses to allow them to streamline their social media efforts.
I can’t wait to get this experience on my iPad. I am a total fan-boy for this program, already… it took like 5 minutes to become a total fanboy.
