Whew, That Was a Close One Apple! You Had us Goin’ There For a Minute.

According to a couple posts over at Kotaku, Nintendo and Sony couldn’t be more pleased about the new Apple iPad.

Sony stated, “”Apple’s entrance into the portable gaming space has been a net positive for Sony,” Sony’s John Koller, Director Hardware Marketing, told the Wall Street Journal. “When people want a deeper, richer console, they start playing on a PSP.”

Nintendo’s Iwata told Associated Press that , ”It was a bigger iPod Touch”, and that the device offered “no surprises”.

But I expect the conversation went more like this:

Wouldn’t it be nice if Nintendo and Sony just joined forces on the handheld front?

Oh well, just wishful thinking I guess.
